Movetopia is Family-Owned and
Operated
| It's appropriate an elite family of moving companies be family-owned and
operated with a fascinating history that traces itself back to the early 1900s.
David and
Vicki Pitchford have worked in the moving industry for 32 years. As a young man, David got his
feet wet in the business. As he grew to know his customers and love his trade, it was
inevitable one day he and his wife would command a family of companies to answer the needs of
every move, whether local, statewide, throughout the country or overseas. And not to leave a
stone unturned, he opened a self-storage business as well.
In 2007, we went through the rigorous approval
process to become one of the elite "Diamond Certified" moving
companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. (Our certification was
earned under the name of our Sonoma Moving and Storage company since
our headquarters are in Petaluma, CA.) |
Booming Growth

Dave Pitchford - Owner |
In 1989, the couple saw their future begin to unfold. Their initial firm was
named Relocation Contracting Services and provided the labor and expertise for the
installation of high-density filing systems and office moving. Since the inception of the first company, the
business has absorbed other firms and continued to grow at a fast pace.
Besides RCS,
other Movetopia family members include: San Rafael Van & Storage, Novato Moving & Storage,
Sonoma Moving and Storage, Door to Store and an agreement to represent
Chipman Relocation / United Van Lines - for national and international moving.
Our warehouse is 100,000 sq ft , concrete tilt up, state
of the art building located in Fairfield, CA, with scales on premise, 24
hour security, multiple dock locations, and Fire alarmed/sprinklered for
the utmost safety and security.

Community Involvement
Active in the community, the Pitchfords and
their dedicated staff give back every day to the community. Whether collecting toys for needy
kids during the holidays for the Novato Human Needs Holiday Share Program or offering
free storage to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, or loaning furniture pads to
local non-profits, the company is there to lend a helping hand. David and Vicki personally
give back through volunteering with their local Rotary club and church, chairing
fundraisers and serving on local boards of directors.
As past co-presidents and members of the Riptides Swim Team for 14
years, they have worked with the public swim program through the Novato Park and Recreation
Department.
In 1998, they came to the assistance of the local Rotary Clubs to collect,
sort and ship food, medical supplies and clothing to those whose lives were devastated from
the effects of Hurricane Mitch. Employees donated time and goods. Eight Door to Store
containers were used to collect the goods and the donations were prepared for transport by the
Pitchfords and their hard-working staff.
In 2002, Dave and Vicki organized a combined Rotary Interact Group,
numbering 70 High school Volunteers to participate in building 3 homes for the needy in
Tijuana, Mexico. This compassion indicates their willingness to be there to help others and
this comes through in their day-to-day business dealings.
To this day, Dave and Vicki continue to support the
community through their charity work. |
